ummmm, I guess they were smart to stay put....hopefully all those who evacuated and moved inland are ok.

Lots of people evacuated inland from the Tampa Bay area for Hurricane Charley. He came ashore south of TB, and clobbered all the people who had evacuated inland. Those of us who stayed near the coast were very lucky in this case. It's a coin toss...

That happened in Florida too a few years ago didn’t it? A friend was telling me something about people evacuated to an area the storm turned towards.

Actually, if you ignore the BAMMs, CLP5 and the current direction Xtrap (very reasonable to do), the others are in remarkable agreement for an undeveloped storm.

What time (EDT) did it hit land again? Those tight storms seem to hold together quite well.

Landfall was before 8AMET. Don’t know exact time. Best I’ve seen was “around dawn.”

Today’s models (including the more reliable globals) seem to want to point towards something as opposed to nothing. The trend is stronger at the moment IMO.

Check out the 18z NAM (likely wrong, but...)

I am starting to strongly believe something decent forms out there, the question is does it come ashore or manage to just scare?

If it gets enough latitude, it will likely clip NC. When are the steering currents expected to pick up? NC needs rain, but if it were to stall like Floyd—eeesh.

The link won’t open for me......

I think they said there is a name for the new storm if it becomes a hurricane, but I don’t recall... anybody know?
