I'm confident that "no confrontational questions" was a pre-condition of the interview. Make that: if any non-pre-approved questions get asked, the interviewee would "graciously but quickly" end the interview and Letterman would never get another interview with either former co-president or any Kurintong arry.

Whether he would get an invitation to a private party at Ft. Marcy Park would depend on just how confrontational his question was.
