Brazil is sizable and uses Portuguese. You'll also find German, Italian, and Japanese used in South America (in addition to English).

True - that's why I said "most of South America." The thought of Portugal as an international contender kind of boggles the modern mind, doesn't it ...

Other languages in Central and South America (you forgot Arabic, among others) were brought by immigrants into a Spanish-speaking majority. Why, that seems rather familiar.
