No...people that age, that much time and experience... don't change when it comes to gaining a conscience when it comes to people and animal suffering. They can't just suddenly gain a heart and conscience after killing them (unless it's a kid who experiences their first hunting kill...I've seen a kid break down after killing his first bird for no reason other than for target practice).....it's not reversible.
Reminds me of this reborn Christian I use to work with....he preaches and thinks he's a Saint being reborn and everyone else is going to hell if you are not reborn. Yet he lies and rips off the company while saying how people should be punished for stealing....hypocrit. Change my butt......

"I found Jesus" Religion: The opiate of criminals, too.

Seems like whenever someone "famous" gets caught, they always find Jesus.

Animals are not the same as human children. Think about it.

Modern culture has embraced certain elements of a subversive 1960s morality, fundamentally the same beliefs that motivate PETA freaks. Whatever feels good to believe has replaced any true concept of "man over beast".

What they say they believe does not match with what obviously strikes an emotional nerve in them. That's why you find comments like the one you replied to.

In saying this, I shouldn't have to repeat that what Vick did was wrong. But I repeat it anyway, for the slow and the stupid.

Sure, it's really hard being morally superior here... This whole thread is like people who can't discuss rape without turning chauvinistic. Wow you're against rape?! I'm really impressed...

papering a house with toilet paper is immature. Torturing dogs and organizing dog fights for profit is well byond that. It’s a character flaw and it’s criminal behavior. Jesus won’t save you from prison. And he deserves it.

He is obviously a sociopath or a psychopath who is in need of prolonged and intense psychiatric treatment. People who abuse animals like this inevitably progress to harming humans. Many turn out to be murderers, or serial murderers. This is one sick individual. A shrink would have more than a field day with this guy, he would have an entire book and material for a doctoral thesis.

I guess the same can and should be said for his accomplices in the dog-fighting business...not to mention every other nut case in America who participates in this evil practice.

Others really believe it and change their lives accordingly.

I don't doubt that God could save Vick, I just doubt that He did. We shall see.

. I don’t understand the hatred towards Vick.

HUH? The man brutally slaughtered living breathing animals because they weren't good enough. He lacks a conscience...he's a sick person who is a danger to society.

his lawyer told him to play the Jesus card today

notice he never said he was guilty of the charges just flawed, but we all know Jesus will fix that...

There certainly is a such thing as “too soon to apologize”. I’ll give you that.

But it’s never too soon to be sorry, and piling on such a person isn’t good.

True.. Culture/micro culture has everything to do with our moral compass.. In Vick’s world, dog fighting was accepted and expected.. In other worlds cannibalism might be accepted and expected.. Vick was indoctrinated into dog fighting as a child.. he drowned out his conscious telling him it was wrong.. He remained that child right into adulthood.. Grace isn't hard to find when you truly want it.. Maybe he finally does...

I can’t answer for anyone else here, but there are two reasons that I am so angry at him.

1. Dogs happen to be my thing. There are many reasons that are very personal, but they are valid nonetheless, and as a result, this is a very personal issue for me.

2. He had everything. He had money, he had fame, he had talent (though I didn’t think he was as talented as everyone else did), and all he had to do was not do something stupid like this. It is infuriating to me to see all these morons, not just Vick, get everything they want and then piss it all away because they can’t exhibit even the basest elements of common sense and decency. I think of all the really good kids who would love the opportunities he had and would thrive and do good things with the chances he was given, and to see him waste such a blessed opportunity angers me.

He has found Jesus now. Again, if he has, then great, but think of what he could have done with his life and his position as a role model (like it or not, athletes are role models) if he had even taken a minute to simply look for Jesus before he did these things.

I say this from personal experience. I found Jesus after my life bottomed out. But honest to God, looking back, if I had listened to Him in the first place, if I hadn’t made so many stupid choices, my life would have been better. My children would have been better served. I can only fix what I broke from here on out, but if I hadn’t broken them in the first place, oh the things I could have done. I think that is what bothers so many people, from what I have seen. That he just was so damn stupid with a chance that some men would give their left you-know-what for.

OK. How ‘bout a statistical analysis of bad guys who say that they have found Jesus but actually haven’t as compared to those that say they have, and actually have.

Any guesses?

I say 50 to 1. Fifty liars for every sincere case. JMO.

Sadistic behavior towards living creatures is NOT immaturity. He’s a sick b@stard, and I’m glad his world is caving in around him.

I am positive the majority here have not tortured animals or promoted dogfights. And yes, we must speak out against something this sadistic.

Jesus has a habit of hanging around police stations. That’s why people tend to find Him immediately after getting in trouble with the law.

Yes, Mick, we can all forgive a 'child'. And of course, it IS childish, to torture animals. . .

Vick is simply 'too late smart' here; at least per his career plans. I would hope, anyway. Perhaps he can take his new-found Faith and become a Minister. . . better; a Missionary to far away places. . .
