A stark assessment released Thursday by the nations intelligence agencies depicts a paralyzed Iraqi government unable to take advantage of the security gains achieved by the thousands of extra American troops dispatched to the country this year.

jrooney offers a very grim view of the New York times.
I predict Iraq will be an ally of the US and will fight terrorism, while the NY Times will be an enemy of the US and will assist terrorists with propaganda published in their newspaper.

Lets not forget the leaked report from USMC intel that stated that Al Anbar was a total loss and would never be pacified.
The NIS report may be %100 accurate, but only reliably so for the few months after publish. That’s the thing with fluid situations.
There is also no real historical perspective on how long and difficult the process was in other such situations.
I am not saying things aren’t messy, nor claiming that all bad word out of Iraq is flawed, but messy and bad times are synonymous with war.
