Note what I said. "Hottest year on record" was not in my statement. GISS (Hansen) is still claiming that 1998 was the hottest from a global standpoint. The correction was for US temperatures, only. I chose to avoid this controversy by carefully wording my statement. BTW, I don't happen to believe any GISS data now, based on their track record for distorting data and conclusions.
