The center poles of the Republican tent have been: Pro-life, pro-freedom, pro-self-government (as opposed to big government), pro-national security/sovereignty, pro-family, pro-morality.
If they're allowed to pull out the center poles, the tent will be flat on the ground, and useless. And America will be a whole lot worse off.
It’s one reason I’m shocked that Lonegan is going this direction. While “Conservatives” can try to reach out to gay voters on taxes or national security, we’re never going to see eye to eye on gay marriage or special rights (or the NAMBLA goal, a total abolition of same-sex age of consent laws). The funny thing is, gays had better pray the Communists or Mohammadan hordes never fully take over America, because they’ll be about the first ones to be gotten rid of. Not even their most hated opponents of fundamentalist Christians would go that far to get rid of them.
