Olmert, Arabs Negotiating Over Temple Mount
by Gil Ronen
(IsraelNN.com) Arab representatives who are negotiating an agreement with Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's office have made it clear that they will not accept any final peace deal with Israel unless the Jewish State forfeits the Temple Mount, Judaism's holiest site.
According to a report in the daily newspaper Yediot Acharonot, Olmert is willing to discuss joint Israeli-Arab control over the Temple Mount compound.
A chief Arab negotiator told WorldNetDaily's Aaron Klein that "there can be no agreement with Israel unless we get complete sovereignty of the Mount. Once Palestinian control over the [Temple Mount] is fixed, then we will make assurances for Jewish visits to the site."
The chief negotiator said aides from Palestinian Authority (PA) Chairman Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah organization have been working out the details of a "final status" agreement, which they intend to present in November at a U.S.-sponsored international summit on the Middle East. 'Once Palestinian control over the [Temple Mount] is fixed, then we will make assurances for Jewish visits'
Besides the Temple Mount, other issues on the table reportedly include the division of united Jerusalem and permanent borders between Israel and the PA.
With a year and a half left in office, US President George Bush and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice have been urging Abbas and Olmert to meet regularly in the hope of creating a dynamic that will lead to a breakthrough at November's conference.
Asked whether Olmert is willing to forfeit the Temple Mount in an agreement with the Palestinians, David Baker, a spokesman for the prime minister, had no comment.
'Secret' plan would give Judea and Samaria to Arabs
Last week saw the publication of reports that newly-installed President Shimon Peres has quietly drafted a plan for the Jewish State to evacuate and transfer to the PA nearly the entire area of Judea and Samaria, along with several Arab-Israeli cities located within pre-1967 Israel.
Peres presented his initiative to Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and to top Abbas aides soon after he took office as President last month.
Olmert is said to be considering the plan and he "agrees with much of its contents," diplomatic sources said.
President Peres, Israel's most veteran politician, has a long history of covert deal-making. His arch-rival in the Labor party, former Prime Minister Yitzchak Rabin, famously called Peres "an indefatigable subversive" in his autobiography. Peres received the Nobel Prize for a deal he and others worked out with arch-terrorist Yasser Arafat in 1993 the Oslo Accords which led to the establishment of the Palestinian Authority and an ongoing terror war in which thousands of Israelis, including a high proportion of women and children, have been killed or maimed.
How about Sean Penn or Brad Pitt
So very much disappointed with Israel and their appeasing leader the Israelis refuse to get rid of.
An appeasing lawyer.
Why not just close the country and leave it for the mooselimbs.
Scrap this folly. If you really want to set the stage for some real conflict, declare Jerusalem an International City and put it under UN control.
Let’s see what a mess the Oil-For-Food crowd can make of it.
As far as I can tell Israel’s Moshe Dayan ceded the Temple Mount to the Waqf after the Six Day War. When Ariel Sharon dared even to visit the Palis used it as an excuse to start the second Intifada.

Add Barak to that list, with his near-agreement with Arafat under Clinton's watchful prodding in 2000.
The only thing good from Israel's standpoint is that Abbas will not miss another opportunity to miss an opportunity.
Omert.
There I said it, should I wash my mouth out with soap now?
Because you can make a lot more money selling an estate sale one item at a time than just selling the lot all at once.
I’ve been following this thread for some time now, but I’ve offered little input to the discussion. I’m going to reveal something to you that most people will consider either 1) idiotic, 2) uninformed, 3) blasphemous, 4) arrogant or 5) fill in your own adjective here.
However, it is a fact, based upon scripture. I have been a student of The Bible since 1968, so I’m not just trying to inflame this thread. The time has begun where it’s important for the world to see and hear the truth.
All this talk about Israel’s “holiest site” being the Temple Mount is from past events—where the original Temple of Solomon was located (approximately). But it is NOT the location of where the future temple will be located. The correct location of the 3rd Temple will be about 1000 yards to the east, across the Kidron Valley, on top of the Mt. of Olives, making IT their “holiest site”.
True.
We are living in a generation where the truth of scripture will be made known to the nation of Israel, and soon afterwards, the entire world—that includes the Arab world. Olmert may look like a total dolt for even considering giving the Temple Mount to the Palestinians, but he is just a tool that the Father is using to fulfill His purpose. It WILL happen, whether people believe it now or not. For all practical purposes, Palestinians have had control of the Temple Mount for years anyway, so relinquishing Israel’s control is almost mute.
Once this truth is understood, we will witness an incredible change of relationship between Israel, Palestine and Iran. (Yes, I said Iran.) IRAN will take the lead in managing and financing this new Temple project on the Mt. of Olives. All this talk about “killing every Jew” will end. When Iran takes the lead in this incredible construction poroject, ALL nations on earth will offer financial assistance in building it.
You and I will be eye-witnesses to the most amazing events in human history. Olmert is clearly a weak leader, which is evidence that Dan. 4:17 is true— “[The Father] puts into power...the basest of men.” However, Olmert is in power WHEN he is supposed to be, WHERE he is supposed to be, doing WHAT he is supposed to be doing to bring about prophetic events.
You heard it here first. (John 14:29 “I told you before it happens, so that WHEN it happens you’ll belive.”)
Again, my intent here is not to be “preachy”. Rather, to illustrate that The Bible is true and that we are blessed to living in “that generation” that will witness these end-of-age events.
For anyone interested, you too can know what is going to happen before it happens:

Israel is being betrayed from within.
So very sad.
You mean like the Oslo Accords and the Road Map that divided Gaza from Israel?
Who says America is not in the Bible!
You got it!
You are correct in that the prophecies in the Bible have come true, are coming true, and will come true.
You are correct in that prophecies are God's way of authenticating His word and His works.
Isa 46:9 Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me,
Isa 46:10 Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:
You are correct in that the topography of Jerusalem and the Temple mount will change drastically as the result of a great earthquake and it will be moved and elevated to the east.
How ever I do not agree the timing that this happens with the next Temple but it is what happens at a later time during or at end of the " Great Tribulation" at which time all the Jewish remnant which are to be saved have already fled the city to hide protected by God in the wilderness for three and half years.
I two have studied The Bible for over forty years especially Ezekiel 38 & 39 in which the war Of Gog and Magog takes place.
This event is the one where God will provide them rest from their enemies and provide the[ temporary] peace and desire in their hearts they need in order to resume worship.
It is the shaking in these chapters which removes that monstrosity called the dome of the rock.
If an earthquake with the effect you say would occur at this time took place in Jerusalem at this time then there wouldn't be enough Jewish people left nor would there be the desire to worship after such a disaster.
There is going to be more than one more Temple at least two if not three as this one will be defiled by the anti-christ and surly destroyed by the several immense earthquakes that take place in and around in Jerusalem during the tribulation. Here's one.
Rev 11:13 And the same hour was there a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell, and in the earthquake were slain of men seven thousand: and the remnant were affrighted, and gave glory to the God of heaven.
The events that take place the above chapters [and the stage is now being set] will leave Israel the dominant power in the Middle East with more land than she had in thousands of years and the nations of the world in temporary shock which will turn into a sigh of relief when they see these Middle East terrorists states dealt with and the problem of them for all practical purposes solved.
If we want to know how God is going to go about restoring the temple then we need to study the book of the prophet he made a watchman over it and that is Ezekiel. It is the book that is for this time and the one we least understand but is now being opened to the generation that needs it.
Also if we want to know how God is going to handle an issue/ situation now such as the Temple or Israel's enemies now we should pray asking for guidance/knowledge from the Holy Spirit and diligently study His word to see how He handled the same issues/problems it in the past that is why He gave it to us.
God Bless.
