Fox News Channel is getting out of the comedy game, canceling its news parody "The Half Hour News Hour" after a 15-episode run.
Co-created by "24" producers Joel Surnow and Manny Coto, the show was an attempt to create a right-wing sendup of the news, a "Daily Show" for conservatives.
The first episode, which featured guest appearances by Rush Limbaugh and Laura Ingraham, beat its cable news competition and drew 1.4 million viewers, which qualifies for hit status on Sunday nights on Fox News Channel.
But considerable buzz in the blogosphere and plugs on Limbaugh's show weren't enough to keep it around.
In a memo to staff, FNC programming chief Bill Shine said the skein could return in a different form. "We are considering ways to retool the show for future scheduling needs," he said. "There is still a chance you will see the program at some point in the future."
It was stupid satire. I hated the anchors and their overacted serious voices.
Darn shame, we looked forward to watching it every Sunday night.
Too bad. I enjoyed that show, thought I didn’t get to watch it the last few weeks because my husband wanted to watch “Ice Truckers” on another station. I would have liked to have seen it on at an earlier time.
darn - loved that show...
I thought it was hilarious!
Loved the Limbaugh as president stuff though. Should have put more of that in.
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus
Holy crap! That was my favorite show ever.
Bump to your opinion.
Well thats it! Congress needs to pass a law demanding it allowed to be aired to give an opposing viewpoint to The Daily Show!
If the TV ads for this are the best gags of the show, then this show must really stink.
Bad show...
Never saw it. Wrong channel though. 24 hour news . . . people tune in for news, not appointment television. Would fly on one of the entertainment channels (good luck getting those libs to give it a try though).
i’m sorry to see this. the show is funny. but you are right, it
should be on fox entertainment. back in the ‘80’s, a co-worker
and i produced a similar news/comedy parody for cnn but they
rejected it, because they felt it was appropriate to mix hard news
and humor. i’ve always regretted that we didn’t try someplace
else but we probably couldn’t have sold it anyway as we were
conservatives.

Thank God! It was horrible!!
You make a good point. I wonder how many billions of dollars in free advertising the Dems and the left get every year from the “entertainment” media. I have to wonder if the Dems pay Comedy Central, or if the lefties who run Comedy Central pay the Dems for the privilege of shilling for them.
I started out not liking it, but now it’s my favorite. I can’t believe they’re cancelling it!
make that INappropriate to mix hard news and humor.
