The real mobsters in and out of Russia are the so-called “oligarchs” whose ideological brethren are the neocons- the same gang that runs the Standard. Can’t you see a pattern here?

Not really.
Putin did cleansed mobsters.
But, dictatorial or not, he have support of some 80% of Russians. Strangely enough, he have support of anticommunists and conservatives.
Other 20% that dislike Putin are communists and others...

The mobsters are the ones who picked Putin and put him in power. Putin made the oligarch Roman Abramovich billions richer and then appointed him governor of a Russian province. Putin legitimized Abramovich’s theft by buying back with the Russian taxpayers money what Abramovich bought from Yeltsin for a song. Abramovich made a huge profit off that Sibneft deal and Putin got to renationalize another energy company to use as revanchist neo-Soviet political weapon of blackmail and intimidation against US allies.
