I thought that all of the Homosexuality was rampant” stuff came from Cretian practices were the mentor would take the boy up in the hills for “training”.

My goodness I have went round and round about “male temple prostitutes” (OT) for 3 years now, and “Homosexuality is not mentioned by Jesus” that Pauline Apologetics has become a part time job.

That factoid makes things much clearer.

Nice tip.

In ancient India, homosexuality was known and The Laws of Manu (1st century BC) prescribe certain punishments for homosexual intercourse, with the degree of severity depending on gender, social and marital status (see Homosexuality in Ancient India).

There are five greek words for love. only one is for physical love. The words for worker and aroused are fairly close.

Consider the fact there are at least 14 (or is that 11) translations of the illad and oddessy. Translations can be a very subjective business.

You have to remember how easy it was for the Greeks to accept Christianity and factor that into your calculus too.

(as an additional footnote: San Francisco used to be the military’s dumping ground for those expelled for moral turpitude conduct [iow homosexuals]. See much that city clings to their hedonism)
