How Much Longer Can America Survive an Ignorant Electorate?
NewsBull ^ | August 9, 2007 | JB Williams

Can any representative republic survive a progressively ignorant electorate? Can freedom be sustained in any society hell-bent upon taxing its productive members out of existence, for benefit of its non-productive? Can people unable to successfully govern their own lives be entrusted with the power to govern others?

Not to be unkind, but we need to face facts here. So long as a republic represents the will of the brave, it will remain the home of the free. When it’s run by the productive members of society, it will remain prosperous. When it’s governed by the independent minded, it will not be dependent upon anyone. When run by those with a healthy respect for individual rights, special interests will no longer need special consideration.

But when cowards, thieves and thugs run things, those who believe that some progressive form of socialism is better than individual freedom and personal achievement, freedom is diminished. When those seeking to rob the rich in the name of the poor while stuffing their own pockets and growing their own political power run things, then the republic represents cowardly thieves, not the people.

We have the government the majority elected...

So it must be the one we deserve.

“That money won’t necessarily convert into votes. The candidate must be a pure conservative. Personally I like Duncan Hunter. And I believe he has a chance. Optimism! Chin up! Shoulders back! Hooo Rahhh! DD”

I agree!! See you on the live thread on Monday!!

I can’t remember when wasn’t run by an ignorant electorate!

Your statement is true as far as the past 75 years are concerned. The supreme ignorance started with the Franklin Roosevelt era when the battle cry became: "The Democrats are for the working man; the Republicans are for the rich." Unfortunately, that mind-set prevails today in many areas of America.

Now, combine that with a drugged up, perverted, uneducated, illiterate American culture of the 21st Century and one wonders if there will still be an America as all of us have known it, 50 years from now.

I believe that Cynthia McKinney was a Congresswoman from GEORGIA, not Florida. I could be wrong.

We have always been at the mercy of the so called moderate vote. Although we have made headway we have a ways to go. very frustrating!!!

I recently saw an analysis that showed that 53% of the populace now get a significant part of their income from the government. If this is true, then a real tipping point has been past. We were warned long ago (De Tocqueville) that democracy will fail when the majority of the people realize they can vote themselves money from the public purse. We have met the enemy, and he is us.

Who is John Galt?

All of the current Republican candidates and Fred Thompson are RINOs.

Anyone can make “a decision who to vote for”. It is like falling. It isnt the fall that hurts, it’s the sudden stop at the end. It is the consequences of the decision (who to vote for) that many people just don’t accept or are smart enough to realize wss a mistake for the long run.

That’s why we “had” a republic. As you watch Democrats redistrict, change primary voting dates, redefine “citizen” or “voter”, what do you call it now?
