For 2005:

Black Murderers = 8,000 * 0.93 + 8,500 * 0.15 = 8,715
White Murderers = 8,500 * 0.85 + 8,000 * 0.07 = 7,785

This is assuming each murderer only killed one victim which isn’t likely meaning there are really fewer murderers than there are victims which can’t be computed from this information provided. “White” and “black” aren’t really defined either...

Given the above assumption, 52.82% of all murders in 2005 were committed by blacks even though they represent 13% of the population.

Assuming 300,000,000 people in the US, 1 out of every 4,475 blacks in the US murdered somebody in 2005. 1 out of every 33,526 whites in the US murdered somebody in 2005. Therefore a black person is 7.492 times more likely to murder someone than a white. Assuming I did my math right and the information in the article is correct...

Your conclusion is wrong. That's because the data does not properly represent what we know commonsensically to be "black" or "white" people in this country.

The hispanics have to be separately identified first.

That should be the headline.

Another interesting statistic -- there are more black men in prison than in college.

This is a report that attempt to determine if there are more blacks in prison because of prejudice. It looks at things like victim surveys vs. arressts and imprisonment.

It makes a compelling case, that, if anything, black offenders are slightly less likely to be arrested and imprisoned.
