Thank you! I thought I was the only one to think this. I’ve had more than one “moderate republican” throw them at me as a reason why they’ve questioned voting for anybody endorsed by the religious right.

That is not true. As much as I would like to think they are fake, I remember them getting publicity for protesting the funerals of gays who died of AIDS. They were doing that for years before they switched to protesting the funerals of our soldiers. Guess they thought that would get them even more publicity.
