For those who shed a tear for Fidel and for any communist "struggle" and still claim to be pro-life, here is a peek into reality.

Thread by T. Buzzard Trueblood. Thanks, narses.

When Michael Moore traveled to Cuba to film scenes for his movie SiCKO, he failed to meet with a Cuban physician by the name of Oscar Elias Biscet who could’ve provided fascinating insights into that country’s medical system. It’s a shame Moore didn’t prevail upon his pals in the Cuban government to arrange a visit. An interview with Dr. Biscet easily would’ve been the most compelling scene in the movie. The difficulty, however, is that such an interview would’ve presented awkward problems both for the movie’s narrative and the reigning sentiment among many of Moore’s fans regarding Castro’s Cuba.

Ordinarily, the fact that Dr. Biscet is black, a follower of Martin Luther King Jr.’s nonviolence doctrine, and a political prisoner of an oppressive regime would ensure that his story would get widespread play. Actors, artists, authors, and activists would be clamoring for his release. Politicians would be making speeches condemning his treatment. Hollywood would be making movies about his struggles.

Views on another candidate, Mitt Romney and stance on this thread by monomaniac. Thanks, EV.

Romney's 2005 pro-life conversion has been subject to scrutiny by pro-life advocates, including Republican presidential candidate and senator Sam Brownback, who say Romney's post-conversion actions do not demonstrate a true pro-life conviction. Romney approved in 2006 the Massachusetts health care plan that included taxpayer funding for abortions. In a 2005 Boston Globe editorial Romney also came out in favor of supporting stem-cell research on "surplus embryos from in vitro fertilization."

Hounded by the abortion question, Romney recently told reporters: "I'm pro-life; it would be great if we could just leave it at that."

A downside of birth control on a thread by wagglebee:

DUBLIN, August 17, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) - An Irish woman has died of a blood clot after taking the birth control pill for several years. Her family and an investigating doctor have publicly attributed her death to the use of the contraceptive.

On March 22 of last year, 31-year-old Julie Hennessy was found dead on the floor of her living room, Ireland Independent reports. Although she was a non-smoker of healthy weight, the woman had been taking the drug Mercilon for a number of years. This resulted in her developing deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a condition in which a blood clot forms in a deep vein-usually in one of the appendages. As in the case of Miss Hennessy, a DVT can break off and lodge in the lungs, causing death.

More Rudy on a thread by wagglebee:

"I believe we should reduce abortion and increase adoption," Giuliani said, in an attempt to soften his strident pro-abortion stance.

The he went on to say why abortion should remain legal.

Sounds like tiller the killer and his lethal team are determined to fight their right to blood-let in this thread by wagglebee.

Wichita, KS (LifeNews.com) -- A Kansas judge has removed himself from a case involving 19 misdemeanor charges filed against late-term abortion practitioner George Tiller. The state's attorney general has accused Tiller of violating a law that requires a second, independent physician to sign off on the late-term abortions.

Tiller's lawyers responded to the charges by filing a lawsuit contending the law is unconstitutional and challenging Sedgwick County District Judge Anthony Powell.

Thread on more Mitt Romney by 14themunny. Thanks, narses.

Despite his “pro-life” campaign pitch, former Gov. Mitt Romney owns stock in two companies involved in embryonic stem cell research, a controversial field of study he previously cited as the reason for his rightward shift on abortion.

Romney holds stock in the biomedical firms Novo Nordisk and Millipore Corp., both of which use human embryos to research cures for chronic diseases, records show. Many conservatives fiercely oppose the research because it destroys the embryos in the process.

Ping to this thread by Mr. Silverback on views by Chuck Colson. Thanks, Salvation. See Salvation post #21.

Still, as former Congressman J.C. Watts noted, something’s “out of whack” in this response. He wrote that people get “more worked up over the admittedly brutal and inhumane treatment of soulless dogs” than “the brutal procedure known as partial-birth abortion.”

Writing in the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Watts quoted CNN’s Nancy Grace, who said that the dogs “can’t defend themselves.” He then reminded readers that unborn children are even more defenseless. “If only,” Watts continued, “animal-rights [advocates] would acknowledge the more precious worth of human life.”

“After a brutal 21-month-long life,..”

If that doesn’t break our hearts, what will?

I think abortion has desensitized society.

An investigation into the sudden death of a 2-month-old Port Richmond boy in May took a shocking turn yesterday, when his 21-year-old father was accused of sexually abusing the baby before killing him.

How long before schools are teaching that's normal?

Republicans should insist on an anti-euthanasia gop platform. Pro-life doesn’t cover all the bases as we found out when many republican politicians voted against Terri’s life and are still against her today... That includes MIKE HUCKABEE would vote against Terri’s life as would Rudy and Mitt.

Good Lord, Hailey’s biological father is in jail for abusing her? That poor child never had a chance :(

No pretty dresses for Hailey. No birthday parties for Hailey. No big wheels, swing sets, camping trips, slumber parties, soccer, endless homework, prom. That’s okay. She is with the Lord. Her mother is in a prison system where her fellow inmates administer their own justice.

Baby found dead, between his passed out asshole of a father’s legs. Unfortunately, this piece of excrement will be in protective custody.

This is very sad. A great loss for all of us, coast to coast. I will miss him, and am so heartened that his wife mentioned Terri’s legacy to you. That entire horrific saga tore at me like nothing else has outside my own family. T’wit had a massive heart and an awesome intellect. May he rest well and be surrounded with love never ending.
