unless they know the backgrounds of the 3 men, the whats and whys, they cant say for sure its not connected to terrorism. They are too fast to say its not.

Oh, I don't know about that. When it's a wooden replica of a submarine from the 1770s, I'm pretty sure those on hand probably guessed that a terrorist would use something a lot more modern, that actually had a chance of working (1770s submarine technology, while impressive for its time, is not going to match a terrorist in SCUBA gear ).

As soon as I saw the pictures, the history geek in me immediately realized what it was, and trust me, one person with SCUBA gear would be much more effective than this thing.

Heck, the Hunley was safer than this thing, and that's not saying much.

I think you over state the case....
I believe the Hunley killed it's own crew three times. Neither the Turtle nor any of the replicas I have heard of ever killed anyone.
