Wasn’t that thing named “The Turtle”? The drill bit thing is for boring holes in British warships.

I'd agree with you if they had released the names. The fact that didn't makes me believe their last name will not be Smith or JonesIt makes me believe that it's been less than 2 1/2 hours since it happened and the cops haven't had time to issue a statement yet.

Latest:
All three males are expected to be charged with a number of violations and both vessels will be secured by the Harbor Unit, the NYPD said.
Why of course they are!! Just as the Wright Brothers would be charged today for flying one of those aeroplanes on the beach....Pitiful, simply pitiful

Yes because when 'terrorists' want to use the very best, they dredge up a 250 year old model of submarine....
The sub, piloted by 35-year-old Philip Rey, came within 100 feet of the luxury cruise liner.
Well in fact it was Rey. I bet that's short for Reymajojobe huh? Quit looking for boogeymen, the government bothers with that enough as it is...

Latest update: It was indeed the Turtle
Submarine replica found near Queen Mary ship in Brooklyn
...In the end, it turned out to be just a couple of guys fooling around with a historic replica - no link to terrorism whatsoever. "File it under weird," Balboni said. "They appear to have put the sub in the water at Red Hook to see if it would float, and it got carried within the secured area by the current."
The Coast Guard responded to a report of a "semi-submersible device" in the water near the luxury liner off Pier 41 late Friday morning, said Petty Officer Seth Johnson.
The pedal-powered "turtle", a replica of a historic submersible vessel, was being towed by people in an inflatable rowboat.
Its owner was Philip Riley, of Brooklyn, the Coast Guard said.

The terrorists now use CLEAN people that dont have Muslim names to do dry runs?Yes and they use 250 year old replicas too. Give it a rest. Another example of overreaction by a public that's been scared, properly according to some 'conservatives', by their own government's rhetoric. There is not, I repeat, not a boogeyman behind every door.

Looks a lot like the Turtle. It's a replica - built by Brooklyn artist named Duke Riley - more context here.

Wow what a retort!! So basically if someone decides to use a replica,
their property, they have to check with the government to use it? For fear of 'them' coming to get us? Planes, submarines, heck I'd even say cars!! If I were you the next time you hear about a classic car show, I'd suggest you call the police and tell them about the threat....
Forget flight plans. We've got people in classic boats and worse even classic cars taking off around the country!! Let's just toss 'em all in jail. Just to be on the safe side.
It was a mistake, the gentleman owned the boat, he probably launched it and got lost (you know 1750s submarines probably didn't have the best radar) and you're ready to label him a terrorist because he may be a 'clean' person.

In a dictatorship, all which is not expressly permitted is forbidden;in a free society, all which is not expressly prohibited is permitted.
The United States of America was a free society.
