Here’s one! This scout camp is a few miles from where I live across the Solent. It’s being held on an Island in the middle of Poole Harbour which is tiny and uninhabited - you can walk round it in ten minutes. It’s dry and sandy with lots of brush and scrub. Las time it caught fire it and the wildlife on it were decimated. It belongs to the National Trust who do not allow camp fires on any of their sites. When the event was originally planned the catering included all the normal campfire foods like bangers and burgers, but because of the huge risk of fire on a tiny island containing thousands of camping children it was decided that the catering could only be safely done in catering tents as if there was a fire on the half mile by three quarter mile island, it would take 6 hours to evacuate the scouts by ferry, during which many would have died. Then, a couple of months ago the Israeli scout group insisted that no meat be served unless it could be proved to be kosher - not an easy thing in rural Dorset, so the organisers reluctantly decided to to make the menu vegetarian to avoid problems with any of the thousands of foreign attendees.
But don’t let the facts get in the way of you enjoying an MSM story. ;-)

This was an international scouting festival: with visitors from 162 countries. It would be quite rude, would it not, to offer pork off the Barbecue to visitors from Israel?
With regards to banning fires. This is a huge event with thousands of tents. I don’t think the UK would be very popular on the world stage if a huge fire killed scouts from around the world.
