It’s ole fashioned justice. If we had more of that, with the pool stick, maybe our kids would understand that this is not acceptable. The gun? Don’t know if I would go that far but it wasn’t my daughter. Not only that, maybe the father had many run in’s with this boy and just had it.

If you read the full article, this was a premeditated act by the father. He set up his daughter and her boyfriend to catch them in the act. He beat the boyfriend, refused to allow him to leave the house, then went into another room to get a gun and shot blindly into the closet.
The father should get the maximum punishment.
oh baloney - the problems that allowed her to make this decision in the first place began long ago and no amount of violence will fix them. the guy deserves a long jail sentence.

In what perverted world does this even resemble Justice?
This wasn’t justice. The punishment should fit the crime, and even though paralysing the boy was not the intended punishment, shooting at him was too severe for the ‘crime’.
His daughter, also behind the locked door, could have taken that bullet. In his insane moment, he may not even have considered that. Or he has X-ray vision?
He behaved stupidly and he will pay the price.
