And yes, I raised a daughter to adulthood who is doing very well and I never had to resort to beating or killing her boyfriends. I would be happy to sit on the jury that will help put that miscreant father behind bars for life where he belongs.
If the boyfriend of a daughter assaulted me in my house while I was armed, I can't see why using a firearm in self-defense would be wrong.
The difference in this case is that he used one deadly weapon, then decided to go get a different deadly weapon and then came back and fired that deadly weapon blindly - even though at that point it was obvious that his life was no longer in danger.
Had he been carrying a firearm while being assaulted by this lothario, those circumstances would be quite different.
You and I together would = a hung jury and a mistrial...
