Though, I’m doing the math, and 50 cars—with how many passengers—and it just doesn’t look good. Of course, being the eternal optimist, miracles happen every day and that well could be the case here as well.
I know that the bridge was bumper to bumper traffic at the time, so HOW many cars actually fell into the river? You know it had to be quite a lot. Drivers that made it over the bridge, just to see it fall in their rearview mirrors, said cars were just dropping into the river.
Yet, I will remain hopeful.
I am extremely grateful that there was only one lane of traffic open or this would have been even MORE horrendous.
I heard someone say that the bridge is 1900 feet and the average car is about 12 to 14 ft. long. Not sure if the traffic was down to two lanes each way or one lane. The liberal politicians are on TV already exploiting this tragedy for more tax dollars. Disgusting.
