He said he has been hearing that this bridge disaster is similar to the scenes we saw of the bridge collapse during the 1989 Quake in the Bay Area. His response was “I was there, this is worse.”

They’re a piece of work, aren’t they?

Come on?! Bridges just dont fall down! This could be terrorism. It doesn't look like there is any sign of an explosion and that is about the only way a terrorist could do this. I looks to me like structural failure.

FoxNews was saying that it was coming from a community center and that there were 20-30 kids onboard. Fortunately, they were on the section that collapsed over land and all of the kids are okay aside from a few minor injuries.
We just contacted my aunt who lives near Minneapolis. She has already gotten in touch with all of our relatives up there and they are all safe.

Dont go over the GW or Brooklyn Bridges tonight or tomorrow!
Do they have construction work going on them currently?..... I’ve crossed both many times but that was a very long time ago.

Praying and gasping at the extent of this disaster.
TG my granddaughter who goes to University there is at home this summer!
Prayers up for all those who have relatives and friends who may have been on that bridge.
TG the school bus stayed intact and all the kids got off with just bumps and cuts.

Lets get this straight, a jackhammer would not cause a bridge to collapse.

Thirty-year-old bridges do not just collapse in a non-earthquake zone.40 year old bridges in high-salt areas can, if not properly maintained and inspected.
The US 51 bridge that collapsed in Tennessee was only about 10 years older, and was in an area where much less salt would have been used on the roadway, although that collapse was blamed not on corrosion, but on the effect of the river on the piers.

Light traffic on the bridge. Not so light on the Cypress Structure freeway that collapsed. That’s where the most fatalities happened.

Channel 9 says that Homeland Security has issued a statement saying that they do not believe the bridge collapse to be terror-related. But they are investigating the situation.
