Ok I will be nice and post an actual point for once.
‘Real occult’ if it ‘works’ uses demonic power that is of the devil (redundant). Things technology does with science are in a few ways similar and use the power of the sciences of God’s creation. We can all agree that that is ok, even if in some cases it does the same stuff as the occult (cure the sick, speak to people far away, etc). In Harry Potter they use the power of MAGIC which is present in that FICTIONAL universe. It is NOT the same demonic power that ‘real occult’ dabbles with here in the real world. Hence, even if some of the trappings are vaguely similar it is not the same thing at all.
