“Children often, often ask me how much of the magic is in inverted commas “real” in the books in the sense that did anyone ever believe in this? I would say - a rough proportion - about a third of the stuff that crops up is stuff that people genuinely used to believe in Britain.

“It’s a further continuation of your twisting the author’s words in Post #912.”

I quoted her exact words.

“As we’ve said repeatedly, we don’t care if you read the books. But you are not qualified to judge them OR J.K. Rowling”

I don’t need to judge her - I have her exact words on the matter - she used real beliefs and practices.

“What’s disingenuous...”

First I was “lying”, now I’m “disingenuous”. Make up your mind! Where’s my lie???

I’m trying the P-M approach - sheer repetition.

Thanks for that article. Kind of puts in perspective, doesn’t it?

She didn’t say it was occult belief and practice, she said it was folkloric belief and practice. A lot of British folklore actually comes from after Christianity got to the islands, you know Robin Hood, Arthur, stuff like that.

“Maybe you should read this:”

I have read it. I prefer the comments of the author as posted in #912

Yeah, I guess I’m “really, really stupid”. So help me out.

Where did I lie?

“912...924...927...931...936...942...963...”

So basically you cant find one.

So basically you cant find one.

Basically you can't count. I found several. And that's just on this page.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I have no doubt that you actually believe what you've been posting. But the reality is, you have twisted the author's words, and that's the lie.

She has been consistent in her interviews and comments about the magic in the books. You've cut and pasted a single quote and given it your own emphasis and interpretation and distorted the original meaning.

Don't let P-M ever get a hold of Mozart's Requiem. The allusion in Dies Irae to the Sibyl is rooted in Greek mythology, not Christian apocalypticism.

Please give me a quote that I have twisted or show me a specific lie.

Do you apply your standards to The Wizard of Oz, Lord of the Rings, and the Narnia stories?

I’ve given you that, more than once.

Find something else to be hysterical about.

If I were to hand you a Bible right now, could you find one of these stories in under 30 seconds? (Be honest).

Yes. And I like the Potter movies as well. Imagine that. I may have to give the books a go, although the last time I tried reading them I fell asleep. As a Christian, I don't see anything all that wrong with them.

You have not pointed out any specific comment that you believe to be a lie. If you can’t do so then we can let it drop.

The specific lie is that when the questioner says “mythology” and the answerer says “folklore” you scream “OCCULT”. Neither of them said any about the occult, that’s YOUR insertion that YOU insist is proven by that quote but is in fact not there at all. They’re different things, somewhat related sometimes but in general separate.
