Except of course there’s no actual proof the non-character was even named after the real person, it’s just guess work. Then of course there’s the fact that the person’s textbook and the entire subject is made fun of for two books. If the character name actually is a reference to the real person (unproven supposition) it clearly isn’t a tip of the hat.
Have you read the article in 707 yet? Or are you afraid it’ll prove you wrong?
No doubt he's waiting for the movie.
You’re on a roll today, wearing out your punchline drummer.
My son’s a drummer. He needs the work.
Does it pay well? lol
Unfortunately no. Unless it’s coming from Dad’s wallet.
So is mine! (The teenage one, not the witter-sandwiches ones.)
[snort]
Someone’s clearly cast a spell on this poor fellow. Nobody’s this obtuse without some kind of intervention.
You must have a lot of time to research all these supposed occult connections to Harry Potter, in the last two days you would have had enough time to read at least two of the books.
You must have hotlinks to your favorite HP sites.
And unfortunately, the Mandrakes won’t be ready for some time...
No, her text book is referenced in one of the earlier books. This arguments been floating around out there for years.
“Except of course theres no actual proof the non-character was even named after the real person, its just guess work.”
The same way you can’t see the connection between the names Vablatsky and Blavatsky is the same way you can’t see the connection between the the occultism in HP and the occultism in the real world. You can’t see it because you don’t want to.
“Have you read the article in 707 yet? “
Yea, I’ve read it - twice. Nothing there. I’m suppose to be convinced by a guy moving leftward (”and quite a bit more disillusioned with the religious right wing of the conservative movement.”)?
LOL! As any reader of T.S. Eliot would know, i.e., any educated person.
“LOL! As any reader of T.S. Eliot would know, i.e., any educated person.”
“[Helena Blavatsky] has been credited with reviving interest in the occult, spiritualism and other paranormal concepts in the United States and in Europe. A major thrust of Blavatsky’s work is the elevation of the spiritual over the material, a theme renewed in the so-called turbulent decade of the 1960s and which for the moment is a common thread through much of “New Age” doctrine.”
??? So T.S. Eliot had heard of her, else he wouldn’t have put her in the poem . . . modern editions require for modern readers, of course.
Cassandra Vablatsky is portrayed as a fraud in Harry Potter, as is the whole subject of divination.
Where’s the proof? The whole anagram thing just doesn’t cut it for me. Sure you can re-arrange the letters of one non-character referenced once or twice in over 4000 pages to be the name of some bad person, BFD. That has no REAL meaning. The reason I can’t see it is because IT DOESN’T EXIST. You’re WRONG.
The guy is moving leftward because he realized that people like YOU are a problem and an embarrassment?! Then I guess all of FR is moving leftward because you have ZERO supporters on this thread. He’s got the facts, he presents the facts, those facts utterly destroy the LIES you keep spreading. You lost. STOP THE LIES.
Nothing will. I’ve listed real occultic practices (automatic writing, mirror magic, necromancy, astral projection etc.) and you don’t want to see that either.
“...you have ZERO supporters on this thread. “
I’m ok with that.
“Hes got the facts, he presents the facts, those facts utterly destroy the LIES you keep spreading. “
He doesn’t have “facts” - he has personal opinion.
“So let me get this right, PM.”
No, you got me wrong.
“Helena Blavatsky (a name I and most others have never heard of).”
But almost anyone familliar with the occult would immediately recognize it.
“That, to you, is evidence of the real-life, hellbound occultist nature of Harry Potter.”
No. It is one example of real occultic things (in this case, a very famous occultist) hidding in HP. The real evidence of it’s occultist nature is the authors use of real occultic practices.
