Forrest Fire In Michigan

A forest fire that scorched more than 500 acres and damaged at least three homes in Iosco County has been contained. A forestry official says firefighters were still dealing with hot spots and flare-ups as of yesterday. Firefighters plan to monitor it for several days to make sure it doesn't rekindle during expected dry conditions. Authorities don't know what caused the blaze or its exact starting point.

I was a little surprised today when Weatherbug showed a fire alert for southern Michigan. I don’t think I’ve seen one in this area for at least 20 years.
It has been dry here. I haven’t mowed the lawn since June. I think I’ll take the weedeater out in the morning and knock down a few spots but other than that the grass is yellow.

Any part of our lawn that hasn’t been hit by the sprinkers is sand.
This is going to be a bad winter.
