From what I've heard, the possibility of rehabilitation for child sexual abuse is practically zero.

I wish there were the option, not only of true life imprisonment, but of true exile, in the old-fashioned Botany Bay sense: put these sex offenders and murderers on some remote island; no cell phones or other electronic communication, non-criminals can live there with them if they wish (for instance heroic priests or missionaries), but no one can leave; mail delivery and supply drop once a month. Let them fend as they wish. Would it be possible?
