That is my opinion too.

Most of the “wacky” beliefs of different branches of Christianity are somewhat agreed by other branches. For example, most Christians would understand but not necessarily believe that handling snakes would require a great deal of faith. All Christians believe that the body of Christ is shared somehow in the Communion or Eucharist , but not all believe in transubstantiation. Most if not all Christians understand where the belief of Christ’s body being represented in the bread and wine comes from.

Many of the doctrines of Mormonism are strange, and totally unrelated to Christianity or the Bible. The fact that Mormonism tries to hide the vast differences is one indication of just how strange and embarrassing many of it’s doctrines really are.

These strange doctrine will come to light in this Presidential election. Most Christians will find the doctrines, covenants, and ordinances downright strange, if not totally frightening.

I doubt if many Christians will simply say, “It’s okay that the President believe this stuff....even Christian beliefs are wacky.”

No they will say (IMO), “This isn’t Christian. Anyone who believes this stuff must be wacky.”

In no way will it endear Romney to the voters.

I believe that we established on another thread that the LDS adhere to a number of different major heresies that were identified and proscribed during the first millennium. Therefore, we would not consider them Christian. But then, the Jews would not consider us Jewish either, even though we have incorporated their Scripture into the Bible.

One thing that we have, though, is the semi-documented founding of a religion. It is possible to compare Christianity, the LDS, Islam, Scientology and other religions by comparing and contrasting the individuals who founded them, the methodology of creation, the complete theology, the command and control of their members, and the overriding aims and goals of that religion.
