You do realize that Congressman Duncan Hunter doesn’t even register on most polls: http://www.realclearpolitics.com/polls
whereas former Senator Fred Thompson is either leading or in second place in most polls. Also, the last time the United States elected a current or former House member to the presidency was Abraham Lincoln in 1860 (on a fragmented four-way ticket). Mr. Lincoln was our 16th president, while we are working on electing our 44th president next year! I’m sure Mr. Hunter is a fine man, a stalwart conservative, and might make a good president, BUT IT’S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!! Holding back support for Mr. Thompson merely makes it more likely that former Mayor Giuliani or former Governor Romney win the nomination. Is that what you want?! Have you ever heard the saying: “Perfect is the enemy of the good”?

Wrong. George H.W. Bush was elected President in 1988. He was a House member for Texas in 1964. Served one term, as I recall.
