I dare say Thompson did not just "swoop in". This is a well thought out political tactic. The same one Newt is engaging. Bloomberg has a different tactic. Those avoiding the Iowa caucus have another.

I wouldn't dismiss a frontrunner because of his successful political acumen.

You’re right there, as he hasn’t even swooped yet. Still waiting on the sidelines while others are doing the heavy lifting. I’m not the only one who is aggravated by this stalling tactic. It’s unseemly at this point. He’s dragged it out long enough. Time to sh*t or get off the pot.
