So the CFR just basically sits around and debates, with nothing ever changing, with no power, or influence to change anything in regards to law, politics, government policies etc?

They occasionally have some influence -Let’s say they are a provider of advice, you can either take that advice, or not take it, it’s up to you.

So it's up to people like me to decide if they have government policy influence or should be an advisor on government policy, even if I'm not a member?

That isn’t at all what I said. I was making a comparison to advice. The CFR provides advice to the government people who ask (and sometimes pay) for it. The government people can either take that advice or leave it.

OK. I’ve repeated this enough times. If you’re not getting it by now, you don’t WANT to get it.
