To a die-hard meat eater, there's nothing more irritating than a smug vegetarian. I feel at liberty to say this because I am one (a steak lover) and I married the other (a vegetarian with a pulpit). For me, "Do you now, or would you ever, eat meat?" has always been a question on par with "Do you ever want to get married?" and "Do you want children?" The answer to one reveals as much about a person's interior life, and our compatibility, as the response to the others. My husband Andrew's reply to all of those questions when I asked him three years ago was, "No."
Obviously, we're now married. We had twins earlier this year. And somewhere in between those two events, the answer to the third question was also re-evaluated, and the vegetarian soapbox was put to rest, too.
Yes, my husband has started eating meat again after a seven-year hiatus as an ethically motivated and health-conscious vegetarian.

Now that is what I call a proper steak. You’re making me want to run out to the butcher shop and purchase a couple of those, score them, marinate them for 2 days, and then grill them.
Tell them to eat lots of oatmeal (cleans the fats out of the blood) and add some apple cider vinegar to salads etc. I eat two pork sausage patties with two tortillas every day for break fast and if not, then it’s a sausage patty and two fried eggs. We eat a poop load of meat. My cholestral is excellent (according to tests done two months ago) I read something somewhere that said that sugars and white flours are the culprit for high cholestral.
Now, it would be the 16oz rib-eye and a baked tater and nothing else.
Kinda like how I grill out now, without the rush!
I do have a family member who had one in 1 hour. He's been stranded for 2 days in the snow one winter, drove up, and had the whole thing in 1 hour - and so he says, was slightly hungry for dessert. (He's 6'6" also.....)
For all those berating the ethical aspect of vegetarianism, I'd point out that we all make ethical choices about what we'll eat. Humans are made by God out of meat, too, but few would eat one. Few would eat a chimp. Why? Because they are too highly evolved, and we don't want to kill them. Indians put cows in that category, as Americans do dogs and cats. Vegetarians draw the line at animals. What's so weird about that?
Fish oil, and working out in the yard. Did wonders for my husband. The longer the work, the better the cholesterol levels became. The fish oil raises the HDL levels to assist the overall count. (I get the Omega Complex capsules from Sam’s. It’s got fish oil and 2 others, to help with cholesterol levels. It’s been great for bringing down the DH’s levels ~20% on total count.
no, fish is not the same as meat. It just doesn’t taste as good. Therefore allowing only fish is a suitable restriction for mourning.

We had the butcher pick out the best looking whole ribeye ... close to 17lbs ... and then we cut it into 7 steaks.
The real question that needs answering isn't so much where? but why? My four brothers and I have a long standing "weekend" gathering every year ... expanded over time to include my son and son-in-law.
This years was our 22nd trip to the well ...

Because, when we arrived at our destination that year (see post 135 on this thread) all they had to cook with was a gas grill ... and, my normal apparatus:

Since the year of the gas grill fiasco we have always packed a grill.
I know she has been on medication but not sure which one. Her family has a history of heart disease - AND she is a heavy smoker. I know, heading for a heart attack. That's the deal. Maybe there is a graphical presentation of some of the facts you just described - I search for that. Maybe if she posts that at her house and at work, and sees it, she will get the message so nauseatingly she will run to reduce her cholesterol intake and her resistent hubby will ASSIST however he can...including eating the detested (by him) chicken and turkey some of the time.

Yes, she actually started eating oatmeal when she was first put on anti-cholesterol medication. But her levels zoomed up. I wonder if stress can accelerate these levels also?
Yes, have talked to my friend about taking the fish oil supplements (because she will NOT eat any fish). The info you provided re: what to get at Sam’s is very much appreciated! Will give her that info and tell her about how it has helped your husband. She does do weekly work at her house and in the yard. She is very tiny.
