Bush: Americans will realize need for aliens
The Washington Times ^ | July 20, 2007 | Stephen Dinan

Posted on 07/20/2007 6:17:46 PM PDT by Baladas

President Bush yesterday said Americans will soon realize they need the immigrants and foreign temporary workers that would have been allowed by his immigration bill, which was defeated in the Senate last month.

Mr. Bush, in a town hall session in Nashville, Tenn., also refused to say whether he will pardon two U.S. Border Patrol agents convicted of shooting a fleeing drug-smuggling suspect, saying the prosecutor was a friend of his who made his case to the jury that convicted the agents.

If Mr. Bush was hoping the immigration issue would disappear after his bill's failure, those hopes were dashed, as he was asked repeatedly about border security during the forum — meant to highlight his commitment to cutting the deficit.

"The bill failed and I can't make a prediction to you at this point, sir, where it's going to head," the president told one questioner. "I can make you a prediction, though, that pretty shortly people are going to be knocking on people's doors saying, man, we're running out of workers."

Mr. Bush said there are workers who will do jobs Americans aren't doing in the agriculture sector in particular, and without them the jobs will go unfilled.

Damn that was hard to read!

We do not differ on whether the problem needs to be fixed, just on your belief that it can be done simply and easily.

Hard work is hard and it takes hard men to do it not liberal apologists and wussys that excuse it.

I, unlike you perhaps, do not see every single illegal immigrant as a threat in and of themselves.

One flea brings ten then a hundred then a million. So yes, every damn one is a problem. They would have no power without numbers so reducing their numbers should be the first goal.

When I was in Venezuela and Argentina and was questioned by airport security and could not speak fluent Spanish it was a given that I would be asked for a passport. In Argentina I was asked for my "papers" five times after passing airport security, but I was a visitor NOT a citizen and damn sure not an invader wanting to take over their country. (See la raza) I had one as I am not a criminal.

Why should these criminal illegal aliens be threated differently?

I'm open to a purchase offer though.

You give me the Cobra and three grand and the '99 Jeep Wrangler is yours!

;<)

Seriously that is a real beauty!

PS: The Jeep has a hood if that will seal the deal.

"I am not inconvenienced by being prompted to choose English vs Spanish. It's a temporary solution to assist new future citizens."

Sorry but that's just not true.

Spanish-Language Media Expansion Surges

During the last decade, the Spanish-language broadcast market has exploded. There were 342 Spanish-language television stations operating in the United States last year, up from 206 four years earlier. Two giants dominate the U.S. Spanish-language market:

So, as soon as you and your friends have a comprehensive and WORKABLE solution to this problem, please, by all means, go before Congress and present your plan.

We have a workable solution it's called enforce the damn law. If I need to pay my medical bills, I'm not about to pay the medical bills for some knocked up illegal. Let them be paid by their parent country. Put the people hiring them illegally in jail. End of problem, they will go home themselves.

Well, if the internet and cable were around when my grandparent arrived at Ellis Island, perhaps there would have been assorted broadcast markets that appealed to their heritage.

It may have lessened the amount of ignorance and bigotry too...but from what is visible in forums like this, perhaps I'm wrong.

My point was simply that with each generation, English will replace their native language.

The amnesty provisions were wrong, but the President is right about the basic need for immigrant labor. Its just a fact. We have a robust economy and a job surplus. We do need more ~legal~ immigrant labor in this country.

Why?

What jobs will the Mexican illegal aliens fill in our economy?

Most of the illegal aliens coming across the border have little to no education, have little to no job skills and speak little to no english.

So, I ask again, exactly which jobs do you see these people filling?

I can’t understand why Bush doesn’t get it on illegal immigration. Build the fence and enforce the laws Mr. President!

MIDDLE EASTERNERS CROSSING SOUTHERN BORDER DISGUISED AS MEXICANS

It seems that the pattern of illegal aliens coming across Richard Hodge’s land (Cochise County, AZ) in groups of 30 Changed about a week ago, No more large groups of illegal workers. For the last week now, it has been a constant flow - small groups of 6. 1 coyote and 5 men.

Richard came upon a Border Patrol agent with 6 men on the ground a few days ago. He knows all these agents personally and they ‘talk’. This agent looked very concerned in the eyes, and he asked Richard (who was armed) to stay with him until his BP backup arrived. 5 of the men were Mideastern. Yet they all had perfect Mexican documents, saying they were legal Mexican citizens. BP regulations say that illegals with such documents must be deported immediately. (to try again successfully the next day, I suppose).

The FBI announced this week that battle-hardened al Qaida insurgents from Iraq have been confirmed - Coming across the Border into New Mexico, led by coyotes. You probably saw that news story. I will have Richard Hodges on the show Sunday to tell us what he is seeing fiirst hand in AZ. Media is not reporting it, because officially these are ‘Mexican citizens’, even tho the BP can see they are not. Is it possible that a surge of terrorists are entering the USA? Is the federal govt allowing it? His story indicates that all other illegal traffic - people and drugs - has been put on hold while the coyotes bring groups of 5 men across. These guys pay big money to the right people in Mexico. What are they planning? How soon will it happen?

It is time for the Church to PRAY. To ask for God’s mercy regarding the sins of America - abortion, homosexuality, government corruption, etc. Time to pray for the protection of our people and the traditional American way of life. You may recall that in the Bible, while the plagues were hitting Egypt, God’s people were covered and protected by His mercy. And please remember to pray for our Border Patrol agents when you pray for our Military.

All the Border Guards pretend the crops will just plant and harvest themselves.

All the criminal-coddlers think only hispanics can grow food.

You claim that you don't want to have a dialogue with people that hurl insults, while you accuse them of being members of the Klu Klux Klan. (referencing your "pointy white hats" comment). Interesting.

You want all illegal immigrants who commit violent crime to be deported, and so do I.

I'll give you that...we agree

You believe that all illegals are worthless and do not contribute to this country.

WHERE did I say that? Illegals are breaking the law. They could follow the law by getting a work visa. Does anyone remember that we actually have these things?

I want them to follow our laws and go through the process of becoming legal if they are to stay here. If they do not follow our laws and do the right thing, then I want them to leave our country. How exactly is that different from what you want?

I want them to do all these things BEFORE they come and camp out in the canyon behind my house.

We have laws on the books that should be followed. Close our borders, stop hiring illegal workers, and stop treating these people that are in our country illegally as if they have the same rights as anyone that has gone through the immigration process legally.

You think the problem has an easy fix. I do not.

Doesn't seem all that difficult to me.

I, like you, want them held accountable, and either sent home if they are not willing to follow our laws and become American citizens, or pay a price in order to do so.

So like jorge you support amnesty, you just want to call it by a different name.

I want those here illegally for economic reasons to be held accountable and to be made to follow our laws in becoming an American citizen.

See a liberal supporting illegals and amnesty, that is all you are.

"...people are going to be knocking on people's doors..."? *Sigh* - Mr. Articulate strikes again.

I wonder what's going to be happening "pretty shortly" that would cause such a dearth of immigrant workers?

Oh, puhleeeeze, Bre'r President! Don' throw us in de briar patch!

The Nile is a River that runs through FR. All the Border Guards pretend the crops will just plant and harvest themselves.

How did we manage to feed ourselves, export countless tons of grain and produce to needy nations *and* pay farmers NOT to produce crops back in the days before there were 20+ Million illegals here to do all the work?

We agree to disagree then. Since you want nothing less than death for these criminals, so be it. Have it your way. I’m done trying to have a reasonable dialogue with unreasonable people.
