I see guys that are my age and are retiring from the military. While they aren’t retiring rich, they are retiring with a check coming in and time to decide what to do with the rest of their lives.

A high school classmate of mine, supposedly with less "smarts," retired from the Marines as a colonel after 30 years not too long ago. He's healthy, trim, has a solid retirement check, and is ready to enjoy life, and does. He sends pictures of his exploits every couple of months.
