"true Islam forbids "frienship with infidels." Wait, they must have gotten this wrong...it's the religion of peace!

Is this a rejection of a new Sarkozy policy or a rejection of an older policy/entente started under Chirac?
The rejection should tell the French and Europe what they are up against, if they care to listen and understand.

Sometime in 1960 I came back from a dark and cold shower at RAF Upper Heyford (in the UK) and sat on my bunk in the dim barracks where we were TDY with our SAC B-47’s.
A three stipe buddy, Rodrique Sessions of Metaire, La. was listening to the radio. There was some sort of big demonstration going on in Paris.Car horns were beeping a sort of code. Beep Beep Beep,...Beep Beep!!
Crowds could be heard as well. I understood very little French and had him translate. “Al-ge-rie,...Fran-cais!!!”
“Algeria is France.”
What the hell was That about? There was a bitter guerrilla war going on between the Algerians wanting colonial France out of Algeria on one hand and the Pied Noir (French settlers in Algeria) who wanted France to keep a presence to protect their personal efforts and economic investment.
names swirled around Ben Bella, murders, French military committing unspeakable outrages, Mau Mau like killings and ripostes by the underground FLN.Tanks in the streets of France and a Charles deGaulle who shat on everyone equally.
It was sort of interesting, exciting and adrenaline raising but we had heard that we might be sent to Saigon somewhere in SE Asia, and we opined that that might not be a bad assignment after all. It is now 2007 and the French and Algerians, are still fighting for something or other. You see, that is what history is all about. The fight never stops and if there is a solution, another cause celeb or casus belli will certainly be found. By the way, the assignment to South East Asia really sucked.
