Man linked to Zina case: Sex offender who escaped deportment (sic)
Tacoma News Tribune ^ | July 13th, 2007 | SEAN ROBINSON

Posted on 07/13/2007 11:59:55 AM PDT by 3AngelaD

"I disgraced myself, and my mother deserves a better son than me.” Terapon Adhahn said those words to a counselor 17 years ago, during treatment for a sex offense he admitted committing. What he said to Tacoma police Thursday is unknown, but information from Adhahn, 42, led investigators to the body of 12-year-old Zina Linnik, missing since July 4.

"It is with great regret and sorrow that I am informing our community that we have located the body of Zina Linnik," Tacoma Police Chief Don Ramsdell said Thursday, Ramsdell provided little more information, saying only that Linnik’s body was found in Pierce County. Police are expected to provide more information today. As of this morning, Adhahn had not been charged...Since Monday, he has been in federal custody on unrelated immigration charges...

Adhahn’s legal status is complicated. He is an immigrant who has lived in the United States for 30 years, since he was 13. He is a military veteran who twice enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He is a sex offender. Federal authorities had legal grounds to deport him 17 years ago, after his 1990 conviction for incest. They didn’t.

“He escaped our attention,” said Lorie Dankers, spokeswoman for Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Seattle.

Local authorities could have held Adhahn to strict standards regarding sex offender registration as recently as two years ago. They didn’t, perhaps because Adhahn wasn’t perceived as an imminent threat. He was 25 at the time of his 1990 conviction. The victim was his 16-year-old half-sister. The circumstances: a drunken attack on the girl, according to court records...Adhahn’s guilty plea led to a 60-day jail sentence and a 60-month regimen of sex offender treatment. He completed the required treatment by 1997 and was classified as a level 1 – the category deemed least likely to reoffend...

From Michelle Malkin:

“Bad timing award goes to Democrat Washington state governor Christine Gregoire, who is leaving on a trip to lobby for open borders. How politically stupid and insensitive can you be?”

>>Geraldo Rivera said on FNC a while ago that the perp’s a naturalized citizen.<<

Our resident Immigration Idiot, Geraldo, thinks that ICE detained a US citizen on immigration violations. Geraldo’s presence on national TV is proof that affirmative action, or racial balancing, or whatever you call it, does not always fill positions with competent individuals.

>> This story has a wealth of details not included in the Fox News story

I noticed that in Lurker’s post that referenced the FN story. There were very few details in the FN story which is always concerning given the seriousness of the crime.

And my question was, did he become a naturalized citizen before or after the 1990 rape plea. Later Fox News last night did not indicate he is a citizen. Remains to be seen.

Well, turns out Geraldo was wrong. The guy was a legal permanent resident, and was granted that status after the 1990 rape. see; http://www.thenewstribune.com/front/topstories/story/109811.html

I heard an item on the radio this morning that now they’re looking at this guy as a potential suspect in several cold cases over the last several years. The story could widen greatly if they can pin him to more cases.

Thanks Angela. Now my question is: What if a Permanent Resident Alien is convicted of incest in 2007? Is that enough to deport under current law?
