"Anyone who expects the religious right to carry the day in ‘08 is delusional."

You are the one who is delusional. The GOP cannot win without them. You sound like a Rudybot.

....Bush should thank Jimmy Carter for keeping him from being America’s worst president....

But Bush is nipping at Carter's heels and I think Laura is right.

Then keep your money. This is not the forum for defeatists.

Spoken like a true bot, and one who thinks Rudy would make a good VP (((shudder))). I believe Mr. Robinson accepts non-bot donations and I don’t believe you should presume to speak for him. Now Rudy-money...that’s another thing.

Laura is totally entertaining and spot on. She reflects the view of most conservatives. She is not a GOP robot.

She supports the war and is against illegal immigration as most conservatives are.

I like Laura, she is funny, does not act like a stuffed shirt, and appeals to the causes that any real conservative is interested in.

As far as the religious right goes, no GOP candidate can win without them. Any candidate will need all the votes they can get to balance all the fraud votes the Dems will cast.

The people giving her a hard time are pro illegal, Bush or Rootybots. Ignore them!

I’m not among those numbers anymore. When I discovered her about three or four years ago, I just loved the show. She was funny, quick, and on-target. The vitriol she exhibited in her short-sighted take on the Dubai Ports deal, plus the sheer catty nastiness she revealed in chastizing the Harriet Miers issue, were ugly at best, but I kept listening.

But after awhile, she was such a downer, so damned CLICHE and predictable, that I found myself turning her off after one or two minutes — that’s all it took.

&&&&&&

Ditto!

And I love your list of current machomen actors

^^Laura thinks that being derisive is the same as being witty, when it’s not. ^^

True.

Some freepers show more contempt for the religious right than for liberals like Giuliani. Note the part of the post that you did not quote:

They are not numerous enough to offset the huge number of people who are just fed up with all of them.

I think they get paid to follow a certain tack. One well known late night talk radio host has done about a 180 deg. turn on certain issues, it’s just inexplicable unless they are ordered by management or whatever to take a certain position.

"quickly turned off"

A while back Ingraham had Larry Kudlow on her program, and she started talking about trade with China. Now Kudlow is an unabashed supporter of trade with China no matter what it's actions. I don't necessarily agree with trade no matter what, but Ingraham became downright rude and nasty to Larry. Kudlow tried to remain in good spirits and argued his point, but Ingraham kept asking sneering questions and laughed sarcastically at one of his comments.

At the end of the interview Kudlow lost his patience and fairly slammed the phone down. And Saint Ingraham was surprised that he did it. And then went on a spiel about how great she was because she asked the tough questions. You can ask tough questions, but it's not improper to remain civil. She's been going down steadily in my estimation in the last year.

That’s interesting. Yes, one can ask tough questions without becoming a harpy. She doesn’t seem to be managing to do that.

"every other thing"

Yeah, I hate those tax cuts and those conservative supreme court justices he appointed who threw out partial-birth abortion and who are trying to rein in affirmative discrimination. And that attempted reform of social security was a bad idea too. (/sarcasm)

Great Observation. I'm not quite sure when or how this happened but it seems as if no one can agree to disagree civilly anymore. It's "my way or the highway, end of discussion." I don't think John Q Public likes the tone, and have tuned out of the political discourse.

In my opinion, Republicans are the biggest losers because they'll all stay home come election time. It happened in '06 and will happen on a greater scale in '08. Like it or not, Conservatives need average Americans to vote in order to win elections. I think we're shooting ourselves in the foot with belittling not only everything opponents say, but the opponents themselves. Just my opinion.

No. Spoken like a TRUE PATRIOT.
.
W’s strategy for Iraq is to win it. What is your suggestion for an alternative strategy? Tell us how it differs from Donk talking points.

By the way, a Thompson/Giulliani ti ticket is also a strategy ‘to win it’.

A helpful hint------if you want to run into Billy Kristol, you gotta look down. He's very short---if you look straight ahead, you'll miss him.

It's a laugh riot seeing short-stuff Kristol standing next to Fox's Britt Hume and Bill Sammons both of whom are about 6'6" or so.

Kristol's globaloney probably makes him feel taller (snicker).

It was Kristol and his dad, Irving, (both of whom are Rudy Giuliani fanatics) who commanded the Repub party to dump its conservative base:

GLOBALONEY 101 "The historical task and political purpose of neoconservatism would seem to be.....to convert the Republican Party and American conservatism in general, against their respective wills, into a new kind of conservative politics suitable to governing a modern democracy." By Irving Kristol

Bush has never pushed making the tax cuts permanent as he said he would. No doubt because of his stance on illegal immigration.

His attempt at SS reform was weak and he gave up on it quickly...too quick, without much of a fight.

As far as the SCOTUS nominations, if it wasn’t for conservatives, we would have Harriet instead of Alito.
