Giuliani's Key Supporters Ensnared in Sex, Drugs
New York Newsday ^ | July 11, 2007 | Tom Brune

Posted on 07/12/2007 8:44:53 AM PDT by hardback

Manchester, N.H. -- Another key supporter of Republican presidential contender Rudy Giuliani suffered an embarrassment when he admitted the "serious sin" of at one time calling an escort service accused of being a prostitution ring.

Sen. David Vitter (R-La.), who is Giuliani's most prominent Southern conservative supporter, was implicated when the so-called "D.C. Madam" disclosed that his phone number was found among the telephone records of the escort service, Pamela Martin and Associates, in a period before he was elected to the Senate in 2004.

"This was a very serious sin in my past for which I am, of course, completely responsible," Vitter said in a statement Monday night. "Several years ago, I asked for and received forgiveness from God and my wife in confession ..and marriage counseling."

Vitter's implication in a prostitution ring comes just three days after Giuliani's former state campaign chairman for the crucial primary state of South Carolina was formally arraigned in a federal criminal cocaine-possession indictment.

After a town-hall meeting in New Hampshire yesterday, Giuliani called Vitter's admission a "personal matter" for Vitter. Giuliani also defended his own record of appointing qualified people as mayor of New York, though he conceded some were disappointments.

That two of Giuliani's key Southern supporters have become ensnared in prostitution and drug cases could revive concerns about some of his past New York associates, notably Bernard Kerik. He has pleaded guilty to two state corruption charges for accepting free renovation of his apartment.

This story was supplemented with Associated Press reports.

Hello B4Ranch

Well in my lowly opinion and it is worth about nothing, any Republican candidate is worth more than any of the muckdiving fecal matter floating around over in the Democrat electoral cesspool.

Rudy isn’t the president, yet.

However, he is by far better than any of the Musckdiving fecal matter candidates floating around in the Democrat cesspool.

........credit goes to calcowgirl for unearthing the very interesting factoid that Giuliani appointee/crony Richard Roberts is none other than (Clinton crony) Vernon Jordan’s son-in-law...........

Wow----that is an interesting factoid. Kudos to calcowgirl---one of FR's great researchers. Just goes to show Clinton/Giuliani are " Two Peas in a Pod " or "Two Vipers in a Nest."

God forbid, if Julie Annie wins, he will appoint the Clintons to key positions (gag).

I don’t want to offend your or anyone else on FR but not one of the current crop of Republican presidential candidate is worse than any of the current Democrat candidates.

I am pulling for Hunter, Thompson, Cocklebur, Freddy Kruger, Jason, Darth Vader but no Demo-rats.

not one of the current crop of Republican presidential candidate is worse than any of the current Democrat candidates.

That's because, indeed, they're there's little to distinguish between the two parties, it's really one party/one goal, and neither is for the American people or what's best for America.

OTOH, Hunter, Paul, and Tancredo, who is and has been persona non grata at the White House, don't appear to be fake Republicans/Conservatives....you know, what the GOP party is supposed to be.

The Republican party is split with one faction resembling the old time Democrats from the South with the base Conservatives.

Another faction looks and acts like the few moderate Democrats still riding the Donkey.

Any “faction” like Zell “give ‘em hell” would win across the country.

Of course, no supporter of either Clinton was ever involved in any such nefarious dealings.

I think Zell Miller is a very smart man.

He seems to have the guts that a lot of Republican leaders do not.

However, it looks like some of the RINO’s know their in trouble with the base.

Limply Grahamnesty was on C-Span last night with Joe Lieberman.

Even old Joe some times acts more like a Republican than does some of our RINO’s.

But yes, we agree big time on Zell.

I, and many others with whom I speak, have observed the same.

But yes, we agree big time on Zell.

A great loyal, patriotic American!

BTW, I would wish that Senator Sessions would run.

I think of him as strongly as I do Zell.

Have you seen what the Republican and Democrats are supporting lately?

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1865252/posts

These days too many Republican and Democrats are fecal matter and we don’t have enough bacteria killing votes.

Thanks for the kudos, folks. The Village Voice gets the real credit--the had some great articles on Rudy's corrupt cronies. Roberts and Russell harding had quite the little scams going for a while. (For excerpts and links on Roberts, go here.)
