Quit the Senate, McCain Is Urged

Before he falls out of the top tier of GOP White House hopefuls, chief advisers to Sen. John McCain are urging him to quit his day job and become a full-time presidential candidate. "Just resign," one says he told McCain. "Show you're all in." Advisers say being a senator is a drag. He doesn't have enough time to campaign and raise money. Worse: The issues he has to vote on, like immigration reform, are killers. If McCain takes that advice, here's the game plan. "Pick three issues conservatives care about and nail them," says one adviser, "and attack [Sen.] Hillary Clinton every day. He needs to break out, and becoming the anti-Hillary will work."

You bet she is, and would appoint a Dim to replace McQueeg if he resigned. His "advisors" mentioned in the article are either Democrats or fools, but I repeat myself!
I'd love to bump McQueeg out of the Senate, as much as the next guy, but not with Nappy as Gov.

All resigning would do for him is stop a paycheck. Perhaps he might go up .5% in the polls. Maybe he can soon be down to 1% like Ron Paul.

You make a compelling argument there....we would get a chance at a replacement in ‘08.

“...he should start looking for his next private sector job.”
Senator Lettuce has never had to hold a real job. He’s always lived off of his father-in-laws big beer distribution money (I guess he’s sort of the republican version of John Kerry).

I think that they should all be limited to 1 term anyhow.Better to repeal the Seventeenth Amendment.

I hope he would quit and take his "littler" half with him. I'm speaking of course of Lindsey Lightfoot Graham, to the utter shame of my home state, South Carolina.
Of course he is sooooo toast coming next election.

I don’t think I private sector job is important. He retired as an Admiral after a distinguished Naval career. His wife is also very wealthy. I am not a big Mc Cain fan, but I would rather have him in the Senate than some liberal appointed by the Dem. Governor. He’s not going to get the nomination whether he stays in the Senate or leaves, so he might just as well stay.
To: kcrackel
Please take that advice Senator McCain! We out here in AZ would be thrilled! You have a Democrat Governor right? Don't be so anxious, it would just add a socialist to the Senate, to replace this moderate Idiot.

“I dont think he has ever had a private sector job.”
You could say that about the majority of the senators.
Our esteemed RINO senator, Voinovich, bragged that he had been in “public service” for over 40 years, i.e., drinking from the public trough for almost half a century!

If we do that, hello permanent Rat majority. How do you figure that?
I would expect that "Red" states (~30 of them in 2004) would tend to get R senators, while "Blue" states( ~20 in '04) would tend to get D senators.
That's by no means guaranteed, but that's the way I'd bet.
