It was built in the 90s, but our rector insisted on a traditional church design. He interviewed 4 architects -- 3 Catholics and a Presbyterian. Despite his very clear requirements for a traditional church that incorporated historical Catholicism, the 3 Catholics came back with modernist "church in the round" junk. The Presbyterian did exactly what he was asked to do -- and HE got the commission!

Another nice thing is that an altar rail could be installed and the altar moved back to the roodscreen (and the tabernacle placed in the niche in the center of the roodscreen) with a minimum of fuss . . . . don't think that will happen on the current rector's watch, but he left the options open . . . .

“Rood screen”? I didn’t even know what that WAS until I read “The Stripping of the Altars” by Aidan Duffy.

Every Catholic ought to read “The Stripping of the Altars,” available at amazon.com for under $10, so for godsake get it and read it. It filled me with painful sweet nostalgia for something I never had: but God has this thing about rising again...
