I am “unchurched”, not because there is no church which would accept me as a member, but because I have found no church who’s covenants I can honestly accept and faithfully agree to uphold.
I have no desire to mock, either secretly or openly, the spiritual beliefs and traditions of the various Judeo-Christian religious denominations.
(I mock Islam, openly and often, as IMHO it is an evil, anti-spiritual, perverted political system, not a religion)
I do wonder why individual members of various congregations seem to tolerate pastors/priests/leaders who are obviously openly mocking the stated beliefs of the “church” they claim to have faith and fellowship with.
As an outsider, and one with no vested interests, I find the whole situation very sad.
I wonder what God thinks of it.
The second and third chapter of Revelation basically tells us what God thinks of it all. Notice this:
Every one of the Seven churches were surprized at what God revealed about them.
Not now, GGma, but he tide is slowly turning.
Even now, clergy are held more accountable for violations of the Synodical constitution and handbook than for compromising Scripture.
Maybe you should come visit our LCMS. We left the ELCA about 14 years ago and have belonged to two LCMS since and have found the same thing in both churches—an incredible pledge to remain faithful to scripture.
Pitting one’s “pee pee” up someone’s “poo poo” should be a “no no” ...is the BEST descruption of Homosexuality I;ve ever heard!! Paints a picture!! YUK!
Thanks for the invite but my guess is that our congregations are pretty similar. No made-up, “culturally relevant” services that are supposed to appeal to pagans; no substituting Christian Muzak for real hymns; no hand-waving, pseudo-pentacostal mumbojumbo, etc.
Yea, but it goes beyond that. I’ve found that the really hard cores are the ones that attend regular SS and Wed.evening services and Bible study.
Many would be surprised to hear the types of conversations that take place—a willingness to go to prison in order to teach the pure gospel is one. The willingness to leave the LCMS (or any synod that goes astray). The pastor even said he’d be willing to give up his pension, etc.
It doesn’t get any better than this.
I’m off to Sunday morning Bible Study. We’re studying Islam and it’s being very well attended.
I am going to church for the first time in 20 years today. If the pastor is a fag i won’t be staying.
Try the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. We did and we're staying.
