The problem IS that "sooner or later." During WWII, taking time to wait and see just how bad things will get cost more than 12 million lives.

I wonder just how many innocent lives will have to be snuffed out before the politicians decide that it's time to get serious and act to put our collective enemy down. I have no doubt that the pols were serious right after September 11, 2001, but as the initial shock wore off, and we realized just how we "dodged a bullet" in "only" losing some 3000 lives (as opposed to more than 50,000, which was a very real possibility, had things gone differently that morning), the pols lost their direction.
