This is publicly available information. Check out who owns GE, GM, ExxonMobil, for instance. You'll find that most of it is owned by institutional investors, typically mutual funds in which you pension money is stored.
Employees, too, becomes extremely wealthy on more occasions that you hear about. About 100 people left Google recently, each of whom are worth at least $7M --- all from the stock/options of Google. There are hundreds of ex-Microsoft, retired secretaries that are millionaires. In sum, ordinary people own most of American corporations today.
I agree with you. Luckily China is too much of a "crap-shack" country to attract talent.
They're all in New York?
No, I live in Georgia right now-moving to Wisconsin in a couple of weeks (transfer). However, I have friend all over. I went to college at UConn-my husband went to Manhattan. If you are saying MS can’t get skilled people to work for 60 K in New York. This might be true. Since, it is extremely hard to live on 60 K there. MS. should pay a fair wage based on the area you live in...you just made my point. MS wants to pay substandard wages-not find the best and the brightest.
Perhaps more high IQ American students would major in IT and other disciplines if they didn’t have their jobs stolen by foreigners-admitted to H1B programs for jobs that American can and will do-if given the opportunity. The H1B program should not even exist in my opinion.
I would feel better if the CEO hadn’t given herself a raise when all this was going on. I would feel better if the top brass didn’t give themselves every little perk available. If they are going to hire workers from overseas, then let them pack up and leave. America is a great country-very stable. Let them find out what it is like to do business in India. Why should we pay for infrastructure, medical etc for these companies-no welfare not even for corporations.
We have 100’s of Chinese working here. On some floors of a couple buildings you never hear English spoken, only Mandarin Chinese.
The folks I’ve talked to say they’ll left family behind but they’re never going back.
But that’s what you’d expect from a spy. There could easily be dozens of spies here.
I know about this sort of abuse. This is why I do not want an H1B visa program at all.
As I said in my post, I’m in Illinois.
$60,000 a year is good money for an entry-level job. The last guy I made an offer to wanted $250,000 a year.
I can get contract labor with the same skills this guy had for $40,000 a year.
So we filled our permanent positions with foreigners who would accept entry-level positions for $60,000 a year.
If MS is seeing what we’re seeing I’m not surprised at what they did.
It matters not a bit if Bill Gates doesn't hire foreigners for "defense" jobs.
When he gives all of the Windows source code to the Chicoms, it doesn't matter who is sitting at a desk in Redmond.
This is the same person who said that they couldn't show snippets of source code during the anti-trust trial because of "national security concerns."
Make no mistake. This article is about a corporation run by international socialists whining and crying (and very publicly mind you) about how the evil capitalist American system is hurting poor defenseless Microsoft.
Really, this is hard to believe. Perhaps I should send you some names. Exactly what kind of job were you advertising. Did you use an agency, advertise, recruit from colleges, word of mouth? Do you offer any sort of benefits? Perhaps your methods were insufficient to reach qualified applicants.
Honestly, if I had my way-except in very unusual circumstances, I would have an H1B visa program.
