If it were proved that highly qualified, ambitious doctors were Islamist mass-murder plotters, it would put a hole through another comforting theory - that this is "all about" under-employed young men of low self-esteem and educational attainments.
It is comforting, because it suggests that al-Qa'eda can be defeated by more money spent on sixth-form colleges. But it now joins the theory that this is "all about" the misdemeanours of the House of Saud, or "all about" the persecution of the Palestinians. All of these things matter, and they are all part of the picture, but it is never a bad idea to take your enemy at his word.
So when the terror websites gloat about killing "slags" who have the temerity to attend nightclubs, or look forward to the imposition of sharia in the West, and attack our corrupt democratic values, shouldn't we take that seriously? It isn't about oil or an underclass or the crimes of Western nations. It's about values. It's about exactly what they say it's about.
On Start the Week on Monday, all the distinguished guests, including the philosopher John Gray and the historian Eric Hobsbawm, vehemently agreed that the word "Islamist", which I have used at the top of this column, was wrong and dangerous. It implied a strong link to Islam, which was unfair. I thought the distinction between "Islamic" and "Islamist" was enough: but if we need a new and more accurate word for extremist Muslims, what is it?
Any particular strain of Islam, such as Wahhabism, is only the more lethally libelled if you try to narrow things that way. The trouble with looking for bland words is that you lose touch with reality. You'll end up by calling them Powd-ists (People of Whom we Disapprove) or Bacromists (Bad Cross Men). All sensible suggestions welcome. Meanwhile, it's our patriotic duty to single out the nearest nightclub, and get along there as soon as possible.

Well there is that Mosque under seize in Pakistan. Many muslims are fighting with us in Iraq and Afghanistan... but your point is well taken and holds truth. Where are the “moderates” complaining about or putting down what it is that radical jihadis do? Nowhere to be found, seen or heard.

Our modern day milquetoasts cannot stomach the plain, obvious, and irreducable truth: the problem with Islam is the Koran. It has little or nothing to do with anything we do or don't do.
One need only look at the fruits of the Koran to assess it's alleged divinity: 1,400 years of cultural and material stagnation (even the clothes haven't changed!); an on going taste for savagery and bloodshed; historic inability to form governments free of dictatorial or authoritarian rule; a dismissal of individual rights that surpasses even the worst form of communism; ongoing warfare across the globe; etc etc etc.
The fruits of the Koran are so persistently evil throughout a millenia of history that one wonders whether the document is actually demonic in its methods and intent.

What we have here is first off by a loose definition a religion, and so it could be compared in a fashion to what if instead it was Jehovahs Witnesses blowing themselves up, or Seventh Day Adventists. So as I see it we should identify the entity of the faith thus Mohammed. In a western culture it could be pronounced Mohams. the identification of the plural masses. This sounds to me easy enough to generalize the fact that these terrorists foremost worship Mohammed thus we need to connect them to that.

Let the Islamists describe themselves: what is wrong with “jihadist”, a word they themselves use?
Putting aside that the MSM seems to be devoting more energy worrying that Romney (but not Redi) is LDS, it is good to see more and more people are being quoted as poking fun at the now-silly attempts by politicians to posture they way they do.
By not having clarity of language about the pervasive nature of the jihadist threat, people such as Brown are in effect trying to sustain an unsustainable lie. This is a curiosity because on other subjects, such as energy usage, the left loves to self-righteously scold us on the subject of “sustainability”. Brown’s lie is not sustainable.
The fact that candidate Mitt Romney is LDS leads the MSM to worry (in the subtle ways they have honed to an art form) that his religion might color his executive decisions and he thus might “impose” LDS beliefs on the country. Yet the central motivation of jihadists is to demand the West adopt their religion. Imposing Islam comes via the Three Demands they make of us: convert, submit or die.
It should be very strange that the MSM sees Romney as a threat, while (beyond those directly killed in the bombings) jihadists are not. What calculus leads a person to this conclusion? I can only speculate that self-loathing on the part of the Left leads them to hate the moral framework that is the basis of the western culture and they hope to find relief in any cultural framework other than the west. Maybe, at this time, and not having to live under it, they think they would welcome life under Islam, where a person only must submit and obey, where they don’t have to think about their beliefs. Little do they realize the destruction of lives and prosperity this would cause.
So, Islamist is NOT out. Nor is Islamofascist or Islamonazi.
And the commie pinko left in this country that supports them because they are against America and western civ are a bunch of commie pinkos.
The Islamist murderers can go to hell with their attempt to terrorize us out of using our freedom.
