The Canadian health care system is like all socialized health care... sure everyone has care.. but you better not get crtically ill, or you can enjoy waiting for treatment.
I had a guy griping about the 30k bill for his wife when she was diagnosed with cancer.. she’s still alive because she immediately got in with an oncologist and was agressively treated. Had he lived in a socialized medicine state, true he would not have a 30k bill to pay, but most likely his wife would have died waiting for treatment... but don’t bother pointing that fact out to him....Sigh
Public Education continues to dumb down this nation.
The problem with oncological care is that, while the US has some of the most aggressive treatments available, many of them are not covered by insurance, and are very expensive.
When my sister-in-law was being treated for multiple myeloma, one drug that she was taking was $3000/month, and insurance didn’t cover it. It’s a good thing that they were well off, because that was just one of many medications. A poorer person would have died, after going bankrupt.
