That's the question Bobby Schindler asked in the case involving Jesse Ramirez, the Arizona man whose case paralleled that of Schindler's sister, Terri Schiavo, until Ramirez woke up. The Arizona Republic reports:

...Bobby Schindler of the Florida-based Terri Schindler Shiavo Foundation placed the blame on a medical establishment quick to dismiss patients with brain injuries.

Schindler is the brother of Terri Schiavo, a brain-damaged Florida woman who died in 2005 after a decades-long court battle.

"What is the rush?" he asked. "This is not the first time we've heard of cases like this where doctors want to write off the chance of recovery, and the family, when they're told this, will make a decision to end a person's life.

"In the case of Mr. Ramirez, he'd be dead now."

Why is Jesse alive? His family sought legal intervention with the help of the Alliance Defense Fund:

His siblings and parents refused to give him up for dead, and today, Jesse Ramirez is alive and conscious.

Two weeks ago, he was the center of a family battling over of whether he should live or die.

Now, he can hug and kiss, nod his head, answer yes and no questions, give a thumbs-up sign and sit in a chair.

OK, I googled "Steven Seagal Emma" to see what the fuss was about. Steven is hunky but in numerous photos from many different angles, appears to have only one expression. This is not promising for an acting career.

Phoenix, AZ (LifeNews.com) -- Arizona resident Jesse Ramirez was severely injured in a car crash in a May 30 car accident and a legal battle ensued over the man's life. It pitted his wife and family against each other over whether his life support should be maintained but now Ramirez has awaken from the coma appears to be on the road to recovery.

By the way, property appraisor ASKED STATE ATTY MCCABE to investigate his land deal to clear his name. How many defendants get the opportunity to ask the state attorney to clear their name? MCCABE CLEARED MICHAEL SCHIAVO's name although his nursing license was fraudulently obtained and Mikey & the murderers killed a woman. Can a Bernie MCCabe grand jury be impartial when all of Bernie's friends from the Cty Commission are potential DEFENDANTS? Why didn't Bernie recuse and send matter to HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY?

I was preparing a reply to Greg Hanifl’s broad-brush letter in your July 23 issue when I was diverted by the headline in the July 25 issue and sent my objection in my message of yesterday.

Just as well because this morning’s paper carries the excellent rebuttal by Mr. Ferrara. I can only add that my investigation of Mr. Hanifl’s allegations turned up only Mr. Ferrara’s (et al) love for the Catholic Latin Mass and certain other things changed in the Church after Vatican II. Jews were only mentioned in the context of whether or not they could enter Heaven by their original God-given covenant or must be converted to Jesus Christ for that entry. This raised only the argument as to whether or not the Jew should be a target of evangelization; definitely not the target of hate. Christians evangelize only in love for the non-Christian.

Unless you edited out some of Mr. Hanifl’s letter (certainly within your purview), his inference that Christian Identity is one of the 12 hate groups in Wisconsin is probably misplacing them from the Southwest.

And then he attempts to refute my statement that pro-life people would not endorse CI, by claiming that Mr Ferrara, through his defense of martyr Terri Schiavo, is therefore a pro-life person, and with his associates, are haters who endorse Christian Identity. My limited investigation on the Internet shows that CI’s approval of violence is true and that some has been carried out.

If not for Mel's illustrious Hollywood resume, this guy woulda been blackballed a long time ago. But no, to counter each of his numerous media-covered outbursts (The homophobic rant in '92 - "Do I sound like a homosexual? Do I talk like them? Do I move like them? I think not."; The Terri Schiavo rant of '05 - "It's nothing more than state-sanctioned murder."; The anti-semetic rant of '06 - "F*cking Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world") the actor/director released a piece of cinematic mastery that ensured that his legend would not be squashed. Essex, England (LifeNews.com) -- A British woman has been awarded more than $55,000 after a hospital did an abortion her and killed her unborn child without her consent. Teresa Cooper, a 40 year-old mother of three, went to Princess Alexandra hospital in Harlow when she worried that antibiotics she took to combat an E.coli infection could have hurt her baby.

According to the lawsuit she filed against the hospital, Copper said doctors there failed to give her information on the health of her baby before doing the abortion.

Cooper signed an informed consent form for the abortion but two days later watched a pro-life video that changed her mind about going through with it.

A San Francisco transplant surgeon was criminally charged today with allegedly attempting to hasten the death last year of a 26-year-old disabled man on life support in order to harvest his organs more quickly. The charges are the first in the nation against a physician for his role in a transplant and are sure to raise further uneasiness about a somewhat controversial practice in which organs are retrieved before a patient is brain-dead.

The San Luis Obispo County district attorney's office accused Dr. Hootan Roozrokh, 33, of dependent adult abuse, administering a harmful substance and prescribing an unlawful controlled substance without legitimate medical purpose. The surgeon allegedly ordered massive amounts of narcotic painkillers and sedatives for Ruben Navarro, a physically and mentally disabled man, "to accelerate Mr. Navarro's death," according to a written release from the district attorney. In addition, Roozrokh is accused of administering Betadine, a topical antiseptic, into Navarro's stomach.
