Dunno. The only money I've ever made in the market is on news not rumors. I haven't made a ton, but I've never lost.
On June 14, I had 20,000 shares of EPCT. It closed at 2.18. My average cost: 2.20 1/2. Overnight they made a “news” announcement. I sold ‘em all at 2.84 in the pre-market. It opened at 2.82 (the high for the day) and closed at 2.41 (virtually the low for the day). Next day it hit 2.27 and hasn’t sniffed 2.84 since.
According to your brilliant strategy, I guess I screwed-up and should have bought at the opening on 6-15 at 2.82!
