Bernie wanted unlimited family members to be able to come here...he felt the bill was cruel..

Because he is a socialist but not an idiot. He knew that even his ideal of a socialist paradise would not be able to withstand the horde of illegals - the system would just break down.

More precisely, illegals are pretty damaging to unions.

Sanders voted against the bill because he says it’s NOT amnesty. The bill was too right-wing for him.
