Did Pres Bush actually say that if the bill doesn’t pass then there’s no money for the fence? Now, was the money already appropriated last year or not? If he really did make this implied threat I don’t think this should pass unchallenged.
I’d like to know who originally voted ‘yea’ today and then switched their votes to ‘no’. These need to be kicked out of office also.
The question is, will Bush be spiteful now and drag his feet even MORE on border security and enforcement?
We need to KEEP this issue on the FRONT BURNER throughout the upcoming election campaign, at all levels but especially the presidential election.
This issue is so important to our society, the candidates must be forced to address it, in detail.
It’s possible that increased attention on the issue during the election campaign will have the added effect of holding Bush’s feet to the fire on actually building the fence and making enforcement efforts against the businesses that use the illegals.
Don’t know what El Jefe Jorge said about fence funding. It doesn’t matter. He exhausted any political capital he had and the tank is now less than empty.
It’s up to us to push for enforcement now.
