Here we are again my friends, hopefully for the last debate thread on this particular monstrous legislation. Proceedings are supposed to begin at 9:30 a.m. EST, with the cloture vote being taken at 10:30 a.m.
On a personal note, you've all been wonderful in your passion, vigilance, and commitment to the principles on which our country was founded. If I have to be in a foxhole, I want to be in it with you guys.
Hey, we’re in this together. It’s a fight for the survival of the America we know and love. “It’s what you do in a herd...”
It is indeed lovely, and all the moreso with victory again in sight.
Kennedy and Specter will be controlling the time for the two sides...one hour total for debate, equally divided.
What will McConnell do?..
Just to think for a moment how tone deaf these supporting senators are and the president.
When the priority has to be winning in Iraq and protecting this nation, the president shoots himself in the foot and stabs his few supporters left in the back.
His political advisors are destroying the Republican party and setting us back by 30 years as a conservative movement.
Fools all of them.
bookmark and bump
Got my fingers crossed that this beast will go down today.
All the amnesty supporters seem to be using that word.
That poem was the first thing I thought of when I saw this post.
That and Bluto saying,”Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? HELL NO! And its not over now.”
Godspeed and good luck to us all.
Swimmer up!!! the vote is at 10:50
bttt
Swimmer sounds depressed..like he knows what’s abotu to happen..
..but they are only allowing Session 10 minutes...
...they get the other 50 minutes!
According to Laura Ingraham, it may be changing by the minute. She feels very strong about us pulling this out and will have David Vitter on her program in just a few moments. He will have more insight on that vote count, perhaps.
Correction: Vote will be held at 10:50 a.m.
Kennedy speaking now. He looks sort of grim, imho.
What’s he that wishes so?
My cousin Westmoreland? No, my fair cousin;
If we are mark’d to die, we are enow
To do our country loss; and if to live,
The fewer men, the greater share of honour.
God’s will! I pray thee, wish not one man more.
By Jove, I am not covetous for gold,
Nor care I who doth feed upon my cost;
It yearns me not if men my garments wear;
Such outward things dwell not in my desires.
But if it be a sin to covet honour,
I am the most offending soul alive.
No, faith, my coz, wish not a man from England.
God’s peace! I would not lose so great an honour
As one man more methinks would share from me
For the best hope I have. O, do not wish one more!
Rather proclaim it, Westmoreland, through my host,
That he which hath no stomach to this fight,
Let him depart; his passport shall be made,
And crowns for convoy put into his purse;
We would not die in that man’s company
That fears his fellowship to die with us.
This day is call’d the feast of Crispian.
He that outlives this day, and comes safe home,
Will stand a tip-toe when this day is nam’d,
And rouse him at the name of Crispian.
He that shall live this day, and see old age,
Will yearly on the vigil feast his neighbours,
And say ‘To-morrow is Saint Crispian.’
Then will he strip his sleeve and show his scars,
And say ‘These wounds I had on Crispian’s day.’
Old men forget; yet all shall be forgot,
But he’ll remember, with advantages,
What feats he did that day. Then shall our names,
Familiar in his mouth as household words-
Harry the King, Bedford and Exeter,
Warwick and Talbot, Salisbury and Gloucester-
Be in their flowing cups freshly rememb’red.
This story shall the good man teach his son;
And Crispin Crispian shall ne’er go by,
From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remembered-
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne’er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition;
And gentlemen in England now-a-bed
Shall think themselves accurs’d they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin’s day.
Thanks for the live thread!
Father, release in us the Power that is ours, for the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead dwells in us. Cause us to use this Power to plead our cause before the Throne of Grace, for our leaders and our defenders and our countrymen. Let this Power become vocal as we speak Your Name and Your purpose ... let this Power overwhelm the enemy as we pray for their salvation.
And may we know, O God, to the very depths of our being, that Yours is the Kingdom ... Yours is the Power ... Yours is the Glory, forever, Amen ...
I hope they are not doing a “Rope A Dope” on us...
